Solena Ornelas

Solena is a classically trained upright bass player, interested in studying how United States institutions perpetuate institutional racism, and how this has subsequently made music, art, and other creative outlets less accessible to people of color. She recently graduated from Dominican University of California with a B.A. in Political Science and Music. As a dedicated musician, a dynamic champion for societal transformation, and most importantly, an Afro-Latina woman, Solena is primarily concerned with performing pieces with intentionality that advocate for communities at the margins.
