Margareta Ruysschaert

Margareta Ruysschaert is a photographer and visual artist. She holds a BA in Political Science and Geography from Trinity College Dublin as well as a CEAD Certificate in Photography and Digital Imaging from the National College of Art and Design in Dublin. Margareta has always been drawn to the power of art as a medium for social change and activism and this is reflected in her work, which is inspired by her multicultural upbringing. As such, collaboration lies at the heart of her practice. She gained curatorial experience as the Exhibition Officer for Trinity’s photography association, which led her to question whose perspectives we value and which political and institutional frameworks shape the art world and influence the distribution of resources and opportunities within it. This year, Margareta has expanded her practice to focus on alternative printing techniques and is currently developing a cyanotype portraiture project.
