From HBO's release of Notes from the Field
Professor Anna Deavere Smith has opened her acclaimed one woman play, Notes From the Field (which was also released digitally through HBO earlier this year) at the Royal Court in London. The play discusses America's school to prison pipeline through the voices of 17 characters - all real people tied into this system and all played by Smith. She developed this verbatim production using her revolutionary process, by conducting hundreds of interviews.
