All Tisch graduate applicants must submit the General Tisch Graduate Application in order to be considered for admission, in addition to whatever creative portfolio or audition requirements needed for their specific program of interest.
The following materials must be uploaded or submitted with the general application:
- Copies of academic transcripts from any schools in which you received a college degree or attended for two or more years.
- Two letters of recommendation from academic, artistic or professional references
- Professional or artistic resume*
- Personal statement* *Graduate Acting applicants do not have to submit their resume or personal statement with the online application
In addition, applicants to the Arts Politics, Cinema Studies, Moving Image Archiving & Preservation or Performance Studies programs must also submit an academic writing sample with their application.
Applicants to the PhD in Cinema Studies program must also submit GRE scores in order to be eligible for admission. It is not required for any other graduate program at Tisch. Please use school code 2357 and no subject code when requesting score reports from ETS so we receive them.
Please visit the departmental website for the program you are interested in for more information on creative portfolio, audition or academic writing sample requirements.
Along with the above requirements, international students also must follow the requirements as outlined in our International Application Requirements page.
There is a $65 application fee paid at the end of the general application. The fee can be paid by credit card or e-check.
*Note - The fee for the MFA Graduate Acting program is $100, which covers the application and audition fees.
Applicants for whom the application fee poses a hardship can request a waiver by sending an email to Associate Dean for Student Affairs Robert Cameron (firstname.lastname@example.org). In your email be prepared to explain the nature of the hardship and provide evidence supporting your request for a waiver.
