General Application Requirements

All Tisch graduate applicants must submit the General Tisch Graduate Application in order to be considered for admission, in addition to whatever creative portfolio or audition requirements needed for their specific program of interest.

The following materials must be uploaded or submitted with the general application:

  1. Copies of academic transcripts from any schools in which you received a college degree or attended for two or more years.
  2. Two letters of recommendation from academic, artistic or professional references
  3. Professional or artistic resume
  4. Statement of Purpose

Please visit the departmental website for the program you are interested in for more information on creative portfolio, audition or academic writing sample requirements.

The Graduate Records Examination (GRE) is not required for admission. The MFA program in Game Design will accept GRE scores if they are submitted with the application, but it is completely optional and applications to Game Design that do not have GRE scores will not be penalized in any way.

Along with the above requirements, international students also must follow the requirements as outlined in our International Application Requirements page.

There is a $65 application fee* paid at the end of the general application.

*The fee for the MFA Graduate Acting program is $115, which includes a $50 audition fee used to cover administrative costs.

Applicants for whom the application fee* poses a hardship can request a waiver by sending an email to the Director of Graduate Admissions, Joe Miserendino (jm7@nyu.edu). In your email be prepared to explain the nature of the hardship and provide evidence supporting your request for a waiver.

*For Graduate Acting Applicants: The $50 audition scheduling fee cannot be waived and a maximum of $65 can be waived for the application fee to this program.
