William Brand

Bill Brand is an artist, educator, and film preservationist. He is a partner at BB Optics, Inc., a NYC film lab for post-production and archival preservation with a specialty in small gauge films and films by artists.  A multi-disciplinary artist himself, Bill Brand has exhibited his films, public artwork, installations and works-on-paper worldwide in museums, galleries, microcinemas and on television.  His celebrated public artwork, Masstransiscope (1980), a mural in a NYC subway tunnel that is animated by the movement of passing trains, is in the permanent collection of the MTA Arts and Design.  He is represented in Paris by Galerie Arnaud Lefebvre and has been featured in exhibitions at Museum of Modern Art, Whitney Museum, Smithsonian American Art Museum, National Gallery of Art, Anthology Film Archive and Shanghai Duolun Museum of Modern Art and Microscope Gallery and at major film festivals including the Berlin Film Festival, New Directors/ New Films Festival, Tribeca Film Festival and Rotterdam Film Festival.
