President Trump's Executive Order

Thursday, Feb 2, 2017

On January 27, President Trump signed an executive order suspending entry into the United States of citizens of seven countries: Sudan, Yemen, Somalia, Iraq, Iran, Syria, and Libya. NYU President Andrew Hamilton wrote to the community on January 29 expressing his dismay at the order and committing NYU’s support to students from those countries.

All students who believe they may be affected by the executive order are strongly encouraged to contact the Office of Global Services for advice and assistance.

NYU has established the NYU Immigrant Defense Initiative, a project to provide free, confidential advice and legal representation to NYU students and staff throughout the University who are at risk of deportation.

The University has also created a website that has information for students who are affected by the executive order. The site will be updated as more information becomes available.

There will be a teach-in on Friday, February 3, sponsored by the Center for Multicultural Education and Programs (CMEP).
