Everyone has their own reasons for taking a summer course. Maybe it's to graduate early or pursue a new interest. Perhaps it's a course that's not open to you during the fall or spring semester or you just can't fit it into your regular schedule.
Do any of these reasons sound familiar? Then taking a summer course can be an excellent option for you! Here some students share what summer course they took and why.
" I took Writing for Television: Situation and Sketch Comedy in the summer between my sophomore and junior year because I wanted to get a "head start" on my TV comedy writing experience. That same summer I took Producing for Film because I was interested and I wanted to get ahead in credits." -Jon, film student "I enjoyed going to Amsterdam to continue my acting training at the International Theatre Workshop because studying abroad didn't mean I had to leave my training." -Michelle, acting student "I took Sight and Sound Film because I was a transfer and it was required but I loved it!" -Chloe, film student "I took Writing and Producing in Florence because it fulfilled a requirement for my producing minor and I got to study in Italy!" -Devin, acting student with a producing minor "Took Sight and Sound Film when I first got interested in filmmaking--it inspired me to pursue film full-time and ultimately go to USC grad school." -Jordan, USC grad film student "I took Sight and Sound Documentary to satisfy the requirement so I could take intermediate Documentary. I also took Camera I because it was completely full during the regular school year. That is when I discovered that I really love cinematography and I have now taken as many camera course as I can!" -Sarah, graduate of the Maurice Kanbar Institute of Film and Television, Tisch School of the Arts For whatever reason you choose to study during the summer it is sure to be rewarding!
