Curious to learn what Commedia dell'Arte in Florence is all about? Attend this specialized workshop and get a preview of the Commedia training you will receive in Florence. Jim Calder will be taking you through Commedia exercises, mask work, and improvisation. Representatives from Tisch Special Programs and Undergraduate Drama will also be there to answer questions about the application process, scholarships, and studying abroad.

Jim Calder
Master Teacher and Head of Movement at NYU Tisch Graduate Acting. Jim founded the Commedia in Florence program in 2001 and since has become Artistic Director of the Summer Theater Festival at La Pietra in Florence. In residence each summer is the Continuum Company, a group of Graduate Acting alumni and other artists who come to Florence every summer to develop classical and new works. The Continuum Company has had in residence some of Americas most exciting artists, including playwrights Tarell McCraney, (Moonlight, The Brothers Size), and Danai Gurira (Eclipsed, Familiar), as well as the actors Sterling K. Brown (Black Panther, This Is Us, The People vs O.J. Simpson), Nina Arianda (Venus In Fur –Tony Award-winner), Andre Holland (Moonlight, The Knick, 42, American Horror Story), Susan Watson (This Is Us), and Logan Marshal Green (24, The O.C., Prometheus).
