Mission & Goals

What does "research" mean at a school like Tisch? What do students and faculty need to produce their most rigorous work? How do we encourage radical experimentation, provocative collaboration, and thoughtful reflection?

MISSION STATEMENT

The Tisch Initiative for Creative Research (TCR) is a catalytic platform designed to facilitate the artistic and intellectual growth of the students, faculty, and staff of Tisch School of the Arts. Through support of existing programs, experimentation with new ideas, and exploration of intersections among the arts and humanities, sciences, civil engagement, and public discourse, TCR augments Tisch academic offerings and fosters an environment where students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to be curious, collaborative, investigative, and entrepreneurial.

VALUES

In order to best support the work of our community, the Tisch Initiative for Creative Research is committed to creating processes that are rigorous, inclusive and transparent. Resource deployment strategies are developed in consultation with school leadership, faculty, staff and, where appropriate, students and alumni. Applications and proposals are evaluated by panels using published criteria, and feedback is available for all applicants. Collaboration is at the center of all we do and we continuously incorporate our lessons learned into all levels of our operation. Questions, suggestions and concerns about our work are welcome and can be directed to Dana Whitco
