Grad Film MFA candidate Einav Nitzani is the 2025-2026 recipient of the AnnaRose King Award for Comedic Storytelling for her film In the Light of the Afternoon.
Einav Nitzani is a Brooklyn-based filmmaker currently pursuing her MFA in Film at NYU Tisch School of the Arts. Drawn to stories that balance comedy and heartbreak, her work explores identity, intimacy, and the emotional contradictions people carry through their relationships. She is currently expanding her thesis script, In the Light of the Afternoon, recipient of the AnnaRose King Production Award, into her first feature.
Logline: After her grandfather dies, a young woman is dragged on a chaotic road trip by her sharp-tongued grandmother to notify her late husband’s longtime mistress, uncovering a hidden love story that transforms her understanding of family, womanhood, and love.
AnnaRose King graduated from the Graduate Film Department in 2014 with a comedic feature thesis film, GOOD ENOUGH. Her filmmaking career was cut tragically short when she died in 2021 of cancer. The AnnaRose King Production Award was endowed by her friends, family, colleagues and classmates to honor her creative legacy and memory.
