Film Screening + Conversation: Louder Than Guns
Wednesday, November 5, 6:00 p.m.
Doors open at 5:45 p.m.
King Juan Carlos Center (KJCC), 53 Washington Square South
Please join the NYU Graduate Film Program for a special screening of the new documentary Louder Than Guns.
Followed by an in-person conversation moderated by Chair Andrew Okpeaha MacLean with filmmaker Doug Pray, David Greene, and musician Ketch Secor, lead singer of the Grammy Award–winning band Old Crow Medicine Show. The evening will conclude with a reception.
Louder Than Guns: When Ketch Secor performs concerts with his band, Old Crow Medicine Show, he knows his fans include gun owners, people unfamiliar with guns and folks with views everywhere in between. If they can come together for his show – can’t they come to the table and talk in ways our polarized society rarely allows? The new documentary film, Louder than Guns, screams YES. Ketch and his friend, public radio host David Greene, set off with award-winning film director Doug Pray to explore the true power of music. The conversations in the film are raw and welcoming of all views, and they just may move the needle on a difficult issue.
Ketch, David and Doug are excited to bring the film to NYU for a screening this fall and a conversation (with music!) to follow, focusing on the role of documentary film to address polarizing topics and strategies to produce meaningful films in these divisive times. Learn more about the film here.
This event is part of NYU In Dialogue and is hosted by Graduate Film in collaboration with the Office of the President and Tisch Dean's Office.
This event is open to NYU students, faculty, administrators, staff and alumni. Advanced registration is encouraged.
