Nadia Bedj is a New York-based writer and director originally from Moscow, Russia. After earning a BA in Journalism from Moscow State University, she relocated to New York and received a Green Card as an alien of extraordinary ability for her award-winning short films and photography. Her work explores belonging, mental health, and the intimate cost of living under pressure - particularly for women navigating displacement and power. Her docudrama Beware of Dog premiered at the Slamdance Film Festival and was censored in Russia due to its political narrative.
She is an MFA candidate in Film & Television at NYU Tisch School of the Arts, a recipient of the Steven J. Ross Fellowship and the Black Family Film Prize for her short film Homesick. She is also a 2026 fellow of the NYU Production Lab Development Studio, where she is currently working on her feature film Knees.
