Cole Johnson is a writer and director born and raised in North Alabama. After earning a B.F.A. in Cinematic Arts and Theatre from the University of North Alabama, he moved to New York, where he is currently pursuing his MFA in Film Production at New York University. Cole’s work primarily focuses on stories set in the Southeast United States and has been featured at numerous regional festivals, including the Sidewalk Film Festival, Orlando Film Festival, Georgia Film Festival, Tampa Bay Underground Film Festival, Cinema on the Bayou, and the George Lindsay Film Festival.

In addition to directing and writing, Cole has worked extensively as a cinematographer and held various crew positions across both the camera and editorial departments, making him proficient in many elements of the filmmaking process. He strives to tell Southern stories and bring to life characters who might otherwise go unseen — the good, the bad, and the ugly.
