Rainbow Rider, a documentary directed by Georgia Krause '19 (BFA, Film and Television) and produced by Tran Hoang Calvin '18 (BFA, Film and Television), has won the first LGBTQ+ Impact Award at the Academy-qualifying Mountainfilm in Telluride. This award celebrates a film or filmmaker that uplifts LGBTQIA+ stories and is funded by The Taylor Family and The Robinson Family.
Rainbow Rider follows Shelle Lichti, an outspoken lesbian truck driver hauling freight across the country in her eponymous and iconic rainbow big-rig. With her chihuahua sidekick in tow, Shelle encounters the joys of the open road, grumpy dispatchers, and lots of middle fingers sent in her direction.
