Congratulations to Laura Valladao, the recipient of this year's 2016 Volker Bahnemann Award for Cinematography. 

Laura is a Cinematographer based in Brooklyn, New York. Her passionate interest in light and deep connection to community inspires storytelling rich with honest and stunning visuals.  Her narrative work has been shown at Cannes Short Film Corner, Toronto International Film Festival, and others all over the world. Her commercial work has won awards at the prestigious Porsche Awards and has been short listed for the AICP. Laura is in the final stages of completing her MFA at New York University, Tisch, where she has been awarded the Dean's Fellowship for all years, was nominated for the Kodak Student Cinematography Award, and was a Cinematography Production Associate in her third year. Laura currently teaches cinematography practicum in the NYU Graduate Film Program as an adjunct faculty member. She is currently working on her thesis, a short film about a small desert community, which she hopes to direct and DP at home in California.
