2015-16 Sloan Award Winner

Tisch Graduate Film student Shawn Snyder is the recipient of a $100,000 Alfred P. Sloan Foundation Feature Film Award 2015-16 for his project, TO DUST.

TO DUST is about Shmuel Rosenblum, a 48 year old Hassidic Rabbi in Upstate New York, distraught by the untimely death of his wife, struggles to find solace in traditional mourning rituals, while secretly nurturing an unexpected obsession with the science of decomposition and a desperate need to understand how his wife's body will decay. As a growing and clandestine relationship develops with Albert Pendergrast, local community college biology professor, the two depart on a figurative and increasingly literal undertaking into the underworld.
