Film Independent hosted the Independent Spirit Awards over the weekend, and two Graduate Film alumnae won awards.
Dee Rees recieved the Robert Altman Award for Best Ensemble Cast as the director for the film Mudbound. Rees gave a powerful acceptance speech at the ceremony when she accepted the award with her cast and casting director.
Chloé Zhao received the Bonnie Award, given in recognition of a mid-career female director, for her film The Rider. The award was presented by Ava DuVernay and you can watch Chloé's speech here.
