In Spring of 2022, I interned at IndieCollect @Laboratory for Icon and Idiom inc. IndieCollect is a non-profit working towards the restoration and preservation of American independent cinema, with a particular focus on filmmakers who find themselves within a marginalized group.
Throughout the semester, I participated in the inventory and placement of the Melvin Van Peebles and William and Louise Greaves collections, including scanning and inventory of thousands of paper items relating to Melvin Van Peebles and William Greaves’s film production. Other work included a training session with IndieCollect’s Kinetta archival film scanner, training in quality control on digital preservation masters and transcription work, as well as basic office management and maintenance.
