Jonathan Weinstein is a Visiting Associate Arts Professor in the Undergraduate Film & Television department at the Maurice Kanbar Film Institute.  After graduating with a BFA from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts in 1983, Jonathan began a film career as a Production Assistant.  Over the past 29 years, he has actively worked in Commercial Film Production on TV Commercials and short-form Branded Content.  He currently teaches “Intermediate Production: Short Commercial Forms” as well as “Introduction to Visual Effects for Animated and Live Action Films”.  Jonathan is also a Production Supervisor for other production classes.

In 1999, Jonathan launched Go Film Inc., an award winning, bi-coastal commercial production company. He launched the careers of many young directors and Executive Produced for numerous established ones.  Those directors included Christopher Guest, Dennie Gordon (The Office, 30 Rock, Joe Dirt), David Dobkin (Wedding Crashers, The Judge), Academy Award nominated Gary McKendry (Killer Elite, Everything in This Country Must), Neal Brennan (The Chappelle Show, Half Baked), Jeff Tomsic (Comedy Central) and others.  Jonathan has extensive experience in all forms of production, post-production and visual effects and was an active member of The Association of Independent Commercial Producers for 18 years and his company was a signatory to all of the major film industry unions, including the Directors Guild of America. He has produced short form content for major advertising agencies and brands around the world and has filmed on location in South Africa, Ireland, Brazil, Spain, Mexico, Italy, England, Canada, Australia, and Jamaica as well as all over the United States, including Hawaii.

Jonathan has won numerous industry awards including Emmy’s, Clio’s, The London International, One Show Pencils and numerous Cannes Lions including the Grande Prix. Television Commercial work that Jonathan produced, is part of a permanent collection at the Museum of Modern Art in NYC and he continues to serve as a judge for the A.I.C.P. MOMA Show, which he has done for the past 15 years.  Jonathan lives in Croton-On-Hudson NY, with his wife Beth.  He is also a soccer guru and holds a USSF National D Coaching License and an NSCAA Advanced National Coaching Diploma.
