Katherine A. Lindberg

Katherine Lindberg, a Tisch School of the Arts associate arts professor and award winning writer-director, is returning to NYU TSOA UGFTV after four years at CUNY Brooklyn College/Feirstein Graduate School of Cinema. Katherine taught in the graduate film department at NYU Tisch Asia/Singapore during the academic years 2007-2014 where she served as Head of First Year Studies, Head of Second Year Studies, Director of Thesis and Third Year Studies, and Head of Admissions. She is known for developing strong curricula and exit strategies for her student filmmakers. Prior to her service at Tisch Asia, Katherine taught writing and directing for UGFTV, 2005-2007. Katherine received her BA and MFA from Tisch School of the Arts (Cinema Studies and Graduate Film.)

Following her directorial debut at the Venice International Film Festival with her feature film, Rain (Executive Producer, Martin Scorsese), Katherine began tackling a wide variety of independent and studio-driven film and television projects which most recently include Flutter, a television series she co-created based on Jennie Wood’s acclaimed LGBTQ comic and Superman Vs the KKK, a feature film adaptation of Rick Bowers’ non-fiction, social-justice YA novel. Katherine’s series Migrate, originally optioned by SYFY, is now in development with AMC/Shudder (Alex Aja, High Tension, attached to direct the pilot, Appian Way (Leonardo DiCaprio) Executive Producing), while her series Tomorrow has moved from its home at ABC (Brett Ratner, Barry Schindel & Georgeville Producing) and is now in negotiations with FremantleMedia International. Additionally, her 3x10 series The Drought, an adaptation of the J.G. Ballard novel, is doing the studio rounds with director Carl Tibbetts (Black Mirror) attached. Other projects Katherine is currently co-creating/co-writing include the feature films Forgotten (originally optioned by Blumhouse Productions) and Compassion (optioned by Lotus Entertainment) and the television series, Relentless Love.

Katherine teaches a wide variety of screenwriting and directing courses. Her students have screened and won awards around the world at all the major film festivals including Cannes, Venice, Berlin, Busan, Toronto, Clermont-Ferrand, Palm Springs and Sundance among others.

Katherine is a member of the Directors Guild of America and the Writers Guild of America East.
