Sydney Maresca

Sydney Maresca is a professional costume designer with a strong background in costume construction and fashion history. She has an MFA from NYU’s Tisch Department of Design for Stage and Film and a BA from Sarah Lawrence College.    

Sydney Maresca recently designed the costumes for the award winning play Hand to God (Broadway - Tony Nomination: Best Play; Vaudeville Theater in London - Olivier Nomination: Best Comedy),  Real Enemies (Brooklyn Academy of Music), Boy (Keen Co.), A Delicate Ship (Playwrights Realm), Body (Blessed Unrest), John and Jen (Keen Co.), The Bachelors (Lesser America), Winners (Ensemble Studio Theater), Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief (TheatreWorksUSA), When January Feels Like Summer (EST), Year of the Rooster (EST, Henry Hewes Nomination: Best Costume Design), Il Turco in Italia (Juilliard), Blood Play (The Debate Society), 16 Words or Less (Clubbed Thumb),  and Finks (EST).

Prior to her appointment at NYU, Professor Maresca was Assistant Professor of Theater Arts and Costume Design Coordinator at Marymount Manhattan College.  She has worked with students both as an educator and as a designer at a number of colleges and universities including MMC, Pace, Princeton, NYU, The New School, Sarah Lawrence, Western Connecticut State University, Juilliard, and the Curtis Institute.
