Alex MacKinnon
Accompanist
Alex MacKinnon is a multi-instrumentalist and composer from Piermont, NY with a particular affinity for drum-set and piano. After studying jazz drums at Purchase College he moved to Brooklyn and started working as a freelance musician, teaching artist, dance accompanist, and bandleader.
He has performed at venues such as Carnegie Hall, National Sawdust, Webster Hall, and The 92nd St Y. He has composed music for choreographers including Kayla Farrish, Giada Matteini, Betsy Coker, Selina Chau. As a drummer he has worked with Layerhythm, That Shuffle, Clay Haynes, The Fine Machines, Randy Johnston and many more.
