OGI Presents NYU Women Lead: A Conversation with Shaina Taub

Shaina Taub—Tony Award-winning and GRAMMY-nominated singer, songwriter, and performer—has captivated audiences with her bold storytelling and groundbreaking work across pop and theater. From her Lincoln Center debut in 2015 to her multiple award-winning Broadway musical, Suffs, she has become a trailblazer in her field, using her artistry to uplift stories of resilience, justice, and leadership.
On March 13, in celebration of International Women’s Day—NYU Women Lead: A Global Leadership Accelerator will honor Shaina Taub with the 2025 NYU Global Trailblazer Award for Creative and Artistic Excellence, followed by a conversation with Professors Mary Bitel and Kevin Kuhlke, where they will discuss her pathbreaking artistic journey, creative leadership, and the intersection of storytelling and social change.
This virtual event is hosted by the Office of Global Inclusion in partnership with the Tisch School of the Arts.
Shaina Taub is a two-time Tony Award winner, GRAMMY and Emmy-nominee, artist-in-residence at The Public Theater, and Atlantic Records recording artist. She starred in her musical Suffs on Broadway, for which she won Tony Awards for Best Book and Best Score; Outer Critics Circle Awards for Best Book, Best Score, Best Musical; and a Drama Desk for Music. She received a Grammy nomination for Best Musical Theater Album for the cast album of Suffs. Shaina created and performed in the musicals Twelfth Night and As You Like It with Public Works, which have been produced worldwide. She co-wrote the Emmy-nominated opening number for the 2018 Tony Awards with Sara Bareilles and Josh Groban. She performed as Emma Goldman in New York City Center’s 2024 revival of Ragtime. She was included on the 2024 Time100 Next list of rising leaders and has been recognized for her activism with the Workers Circle Activism Award, the League of Women Voters’ Tribute Award, Monumental Women’s Moving History Forward Award, and the Michael Friedman Freedom Award for activism from the NYCLU Artist Ambassadors program which she co-chairs.
