"As an artist driven by the dual influences of Hinduism and Feminism, I propose a project that seeks to explore and celebrate the convergence of two symbolic concepts, Hinduism and Feminism. 'Shakti' aims to transcend cultural, religious, and gender boundaries, fostering a deeper understanding of the shared values between Hinduism and Feminism. The title of my project: ‘Shakti’ is a Hindi word essentially meaning power, and through my portraits, hope for my audience to feel empowered and embody their own version of Shakti, of power. Mythologically, Shakti is always described as feminine, often personified as the Goddess Devi, the divine feminine consort of Lord Shiva.
But at the deepest level,
Shakti transcends gender.
Through the lens of art, this project seeks to transcend cultural boundaries, urging viewers to embrace feminist principles as inherent and essential to their belief system."
