Throughout the fall of 2023, I explored the punk community around neighborhoods in Brooklyn, New York. As a photographer and music enthusiast, I’m drawn to the genre and the way it physically and emotionally influences individuals. While I navigated my way through passionate crowds, I documented raw expressions through snapshot imagery with disposable film cameras. Shows were held in small venues and bars with lineups that had up to four or five artists who performed, most of whom were musicians from the area. Oftentimes, bands of different subgenres shared the stage with each other, such as queercore, post-punk, cyberpunk, and emo punk. As a longtime member of this scene, I aimed to capture the character of the diverse Brooklyn punk community.
