UGFTV Alum Ward Kamel Wins Prestigious Nicholl Fellowship for Screenwriting

Selected from 5,500 scripts representing 80 countries, Ward Kamel was one of 5 recipients this year for his project If I Die in America. The fellowship will support the feature script development of his thesis short from UGFTV.

The inspiration for "Dear Anna Olson," goes back to 1987 when Prof Lennert found a note tied to a balloon caught up in a tree. The note said, “My name is Anna Olson” It included her mailing address of the nursing home where she was a resident and ended with “Please Write to me.”
