“Brooklyn Resists” is a three-part series that looks at the long history of Black-led protest in Brooklyn. “Act Two'' shines a spotlight on the Brooklyn chapter of the Congress of Racial Equality (CORE) and the protests of the Civil Rights-era with three exceptional speakers: Brian Purnell, professor of Africana Studies and history at Bowdoin college and author of "Fighting Jim Crow in the County of Kings: The Congress of Racial Equality in Brooklyn," Jeanne Theoharis, distinguished professor of political science at Brooklyn College and author or co-author of nine books and numerous articles on the civil rights and Black Power movements, and New York City Public Advocate Jumaane Williams.
