More Than A 'Stand and Sing' Choir

Monday, Apr 28, 2014

Sing, sing, sing! That's just what Ralph Affoumado, the choir director for the All University Choir at Tisch (OART-UT 5), wants his students to do. The All University Choir at Tisch is a 2-point course offered through Tisch Open Arts. The choir is open to all undergraduate students at NYU and is offered every fall semester. All voices are welcome - sopranos, altos, tenors and baritones! We recently talked to Ralph Affoumado and a few choir alumni to learn why the choir is not the usual "stick in the mud, stand and sing choir". The fall 2014 concert "Rock and Bach and Roll" will include works of pop and rock music from the '70s through the present; classical works from the Baroque up through the romantic era; original pieces by students at the university; and famous Broadway songs. Auditions for the fall 2014 choir are happening now. Contact Ralph Affoumado at 212-529-5925 or raffaff@aol.com.
