Photography + Imaging
PHTI-UT 1700 | 4 units
This course introduces students to digital photography, basic Photoshop, and digital color printing. Students are expected to photograph both during and outside of class hours.
No where else in the world can you find the range of disciplines in one school. Over the last 50 years as we forged new programs, built our home in New York and expanded to our global academic centers, institutes emerged. Each are built with shared values, common goals, and a priority for putting students first. The result – a place where artists and scholars create the future.
Due to the COVID-19 virus, the Tisch Summer High School Photography + Imaging program will not be taking place in New York City. The courses in this program will be offered online with asynchronous and synchronous components.
The Department of Photography & Imaging's Summer High School program focuses on using photo-based image-making for storytelling, communication, creative expression, personal exploration, and digital output. The course will address contemporary photographic culture and emphasize the development of individual voices and vision through assignment prompts and self-directed projects and research.
“Even if you are at any level of photography or what focus you are on, you leave after those four weeks with such a feeling. Personally, after this experience, I felt as if I could go through a course like this, I could do anything. And I did; I joined so many clubs and activities because after this program I felt that I can truly put effort and create my art.” — Nicole Motta
Students take the following 4-unit course.
(Within the Department of Photography and Imaging at Tisch School of the Arts at New York University, these 4 units count towards studio credit.)
