"I invite viewers to discover and celebrate the women archivists of my family history, women who’ve been laboring behind the scenes, preserving the memories and stories of our family lineage, safeguarding our precious photographs and stories. These women have also become the bearers of our culture, weaving the fabrics of our shared past. With my camera in my hand, I embark on a visual journey paying homage to these women and resurrecting their voices and images that have long been stored, tucked and framed away in various places.
This exploration is more than a homage, it is a labor of love, a quest to rekindle the forgotten memories of lives and experiences that have once occurred. Delving into the depths of my family archives to piece together fragments of our past, each image informing a mosaic of our shared history, and through my framing and collaging- bridge the gap that separates us from our ancestors, giving life to stories that resonate throughout the generations. I want to center these women because in the tapestry of our family history, they are the binding agents that have held the pieces together. They are the quiet forces who have preserved our culture, stories and memories. Their collective strength and unity, which runs like a thread through generations of women, have created the continuity of our identities. In focusing on these women, I aim to shed light and honor their unsung contributions and celebrate their virtual role in our collective family history. I hope to reveal not only the faces of the archivists of my family but also the echoes of our shared history, carrying forward their legacies to be celebrated for generations to come. "
