At the age of 5 ½ months, I was adopted from Vietnam by my parents, and together settled down in Gloucester Massachusetts. They went through an Asian adoption organization called “A Red Thread”. The origin of the name derives from an old Asian proverb, conveying the notion of human connections; people being bound by a predetermined thread that can withstand anything. It challenges the idea that human connections aren’t arbitrary, but rather destiny. This personal project reflects not only mine, but fellow Asian adoptees and our stories.
