African wax printmaking is a tradition that has
been a means of trading stories and a visual representation of identity. Although the technique and style were originally dutch and meant for the Indonesian market, it became commercially successful in Africa. Within this project, I mixed visuals and symbols from my family archive/lineage to create a new pattern that intersects my perspective as a Nigerian growing up away from home. Creating these patterns became a way to express what heritage means to me as someone who does not take part in traditions daily .
