Yen Agustin

M.A. Candidate

Yen is a multimedia artist whose work is primarily focused in Film, Theater, Photography, and Design, although her multimedia nature often brings her to explore all forms of art and entertainment. Her interest in humor and wonder is what inspires her work as she tries to communicate her own interpretations of the world around her. While she likes to maintain a sense of fun and lightheartedness, she also sees art as a significant tool to encourage social and political awareness. She hopes that incorporating humor into such discussions can help in unifying our society rather than divide it.

Before attending NYU, Yen most recently worked as a Stage Technician Intern at the California Center for the Arts where she assisted with scenic carpentry, audio/visual operations, and stagehand work on various shows such as Simon Stephens' Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime and James Lapine's Sunday in the Park with George. She also worked as Art Director for Catherine Alderete's La Paloma (2022), recently featured at the San Diego Latino Film Festival in March 2024.

Why PS @ NYU?

The quality of performance and execution can make or break a piece of work, especially when it comes to comedy. To land a joke can be dependent on how you perform it, knowing who your audience is, even the state of the world. I’m looking to find ways to navigate modern comedy that makes sense to us and hopefully bring fun back into art, and life in general. To do so, I must start at the source: life and its performance.
