Grad Acting Chair Position Job Description

New York University/Tisch School of the Arts is accepting applications for the position of Chair of The Graduate Acting Program to begin in September 2021. The Program is looking for a creative leader who sees the actor as the center of the storytelling experience. The Chair’s primary duties will be to: guide curriculum and programming; teach and/or direct; lead the recruitment process; and assume a major role in fundraising and development activities.

Candidates should have a commitment to inclusion, diversity, equity, belonging and accessibility. The individual should have established relationships with forward-looking, working theatrical professionals and have administrative experience. The department works closely with the Department of Design for Stage and Film, and the Candidate should be committed to enabling shared values in the production experience for graduate students in both departments.  

The Chair will be encouraged to continue professional activity.

QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates should have an MFA degree, or equivalent conservatory/professional training, and/or a record of extensive professional achievement.
