The historic Kaufman Astoria Studios is offering a select group of NYU undergraduate film and television students something that is increasingly difficult to find anywhere in the city: access to soundstages.
After a year of negotiations, Kaufman and NYU Tisch School of the Arts' Kanbar Institute of Film and Television struck a deal that will allow 10 senior-level students to shoot short films at Kaufman’s Queens soundstages A, B or F. The students, who have been selected by NYU instructors, will be given these spaces at no charge and also have access to equipment from the studios' lighting department
