MA Arts Politics Class of 2018
BA, Drama/Theater, Universidad de Puerto Rico Rio Piedras
BA, Cultural Tourism, Universidad de Puerto Rico Carolina
Arts and Culture have been a very significant part of Arivel's life. The love and passion for theater took her to finish her first Bachelor Degree in Drama/Theater at the University of Puerto Rico in Rio Piedras, back in 2009. Later, she found myself working in the tourism industry. Then, she finished her second Bachelor Degree in Cultural Tourism in 2014. Arivel was awarded the “Recipient of the Medal of Highest Score” by the Faculty of University of Puerto Rico.
At the same time, she was working for the Senate of Puerto Rico and in a few non-profit projects for local musicians. One of them was a web and social media platform that promotes, shares and spreads video/picture documentation about local artists to help them get audiences. This project provided her with an understanding of how the local music industry in Puerto Rico works, including the needs and policies that were missing to support artist's ideas.
That experience took Arivel to start an online program in the European University Miguel de Cervantes in Spain. In November of 2016, she graduated from the Master in Direction and Administration of Cultural and Creative Industries program. This year 2017, she proposed herself to continue cultivating an interest for culture, arts and music at NYU.
