Noel Rodríguez, Jr. has been at NYU since 1997 and has been with the department since 2003. Prior to coming to the department, he worked as a financial analyst for the TSOA Vice Dean's Office and for the NYU Division of Operations as a senior budget assistant. In his role of Administrative and Academic Services Director Noel manages the admissions process, meets with prospective students and provides advising, academic and registration services for graduate students. He is the recipient of the NYU Violet Award (2004) and has been an NYU Distinguished Administrator Nominee (2006, 2010, 2014 & 2017) and recipient of the Tisch Administrator Award in 2018.
His graduate research focused on Latin Freestyle music, the portrayal of Latina/o/x stereotypes on stage and film and the effects of gentrification on New York City Hispanic Communities in East Harlem and Bushwick, Brooklyn.
In addition to being the senior administrator in the department overseeing all operations, Noel is in charge of the graduate programs (M.A. and Ph.D.), including admissions, graduate funding and degree requirements.
