Dan Ouellette received a BFA in Film Production from State University of New York at Purchase. He arrived in NYC with strong drafting ability coupled with carpentry skills, a graphic design portfolio and an extensive knowledge of movies. He quickly developed a successful career as a Production Designer in TV, film and video with indie film directors. Beginning in 1989, he worked for Hal Hartley on The Unbelievable Truth (winner of the Sundance Film Festival Grand Jury Prize in 1990) and continued on as Hal’s Production Designer and his design career expanded in indie film with subversive horror/comedy director Frank Hennenlotter, actor/ director Tom Noonan, and others over the following years. He moved into designing TV commercials more recently and works regularly with celebrated directors including David Shane, Jim Jenkins and Phil Morrison and many others. He is also a well published fine artist whose photo-surrealist pencil drawings have been in publications alongside luminaries such as H. R. Giger and Zdzislaw Beksinski. He began directing music videos in 2003 working with musicians in the industrial and gothic genres, Android Lust, The Birthday Massacre and Foetus, as well as directing a short movie which premiered at the Sitges Film Festival in 2012.
