William Tunnicliffe

Bill Tunnicliffe is a Director of Photography, Writer and Director. He started out in New York shooting music videos, high fashion, and commercials. In LA, Bill shot and directed action films and television series focusing on highly orchestrated stunt work with PM Entertainment and Sterling Pacific. His DP credits also include Highway with Jake Gyllenhaal, Road Ends with Dennis Hopper, and The New Guy with D.J. Qualls.

Bill developed, wrote and produced the television movie Crash and Byrnes, and he shot and directed three network series, LA Heat, Team Knightrider, and Howard Stern’s Son Of The Beach. He has shot segments for OPRAH, and ABC’s Emmy winning newsmagazine shows, Eye On LA and Vista LA. He shot the first mini-DV documentary shown on a major network, Showtime’s Outwitting Hitler, and his digital video work was featured in Videography magazine.

Bill has sold several feature scripts and works regularly as a script doctor. His short film Political Posture was nominated for an Academy Award, and his children’s video, Cowboys On The Job, was rated one of TV Guide’s Ten Best Kid’s Videos. Commercial credits include Honda, Cisco, Aveeno, Hugo Boss, Drixoral, and ADM.

Bill loves to shoot dance and movement and he has worked with award winning choreographers Judy Lieff and Chloe Arnold on pieces ranging from JoAnna Shaw’s Dances With Horses to PBS’s Deaf Jam.

Bill also invented and marketed a unique illuminated skateboard which is sold worldwide through his company KROXSS Illuminated Technologies.

From 2010 to 2015, Bill taught First and Second Year Cinematography, Directing Commercials, and Directing Music Videos at Tisch Asia, where he also served as Head of Thesis and Head of Production. He has taught Directing and Cinematography at the Maine Media Workshops and he is a member of the DGA, IATSE, WGA, and NABET.
