bio portrait

After breaking through in the late ‘90s with his Top 20 Single “Barely Breathing,” Duncan Sheik spent much of the subsequent decade taking a breath from the usual rock singer/songwriter rituals.  His focus was on albums that broke with pop music conventions and, additionally, theatrical musicals like Spring Awakening, the Broadway sensation that won him two Tony Awards and a Grammy.  Sheik has gone on to release seven studio albums.  He has also composed original music for seven musical including "Twelfth Night," "Whisper House" and "The Nightingale."

Most recently, Sheik has been in the studio recording an all new album entitled "Legerdemain" which will be release in early 2015 as well as writing the music and lyrics for "American Psycho: The Musical" which debuted at the Almeida Theatre in London staring Matt Smith of "Doctor Who" fame.
