Ronen Givony

Ronen Givony is the author of Not for You: Pearl Jam and the Present Tense, published October 2020 by Bloomsbury, and 24 Hour Revenge Therapy (or, The Strange Death of Selling Out), published in 2017, also from Bloomsbury. Ronen is the founder of New York’s Wordless Music, which has presented concerts around the world, pairing artists from the sound worlds of classical and contemporary music. To date, the orchestra has performed at the Sydney Opera House, Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Brooklyn Academy of Music, Metropolitan Museum of Art, Barbican Centre, and Library of Congress, and collaborated with artists such as Jonny Greenwood, Paul Thomas Anderson, Terrence Malick, Barry Jenkins, Jónsi Birgisson, Mica Levi, Jeff Mangum, Max Richter, and Jóhann Jóhannsson. He is a curator for music festivals and concert venues in the U.S. and abroad; a contributor of liner notes for Nonesuch, Warp, Thrill Jockey, Temporary Residence, and Constellation Records; and the founding music director of the venue Le Poisson Rouge in Greenwich Village. He holds a BA and MA in English Literature from Yale University and is a native of South Florida.

In his role, Ronen will implement department-wide initiatives for CDI - including lectures, seminars, workshops, panels, student boardroom pitches and seasonal performance showcases, conferences, symposiums, residencies and partnerships, events with CDI student groups, CDI’s high school programs, and so much more.
