No where else in the world can you find the range of disciplines in one school. Over the last 50 years as we forged new programs, built our home in New York and expanded to our global academic centers, institutes emerged. Each are built with shared values, common goals, and a priority for putting students first. The result – a place where artists and scholars create the future.
Visiting students and non-majors are invited to take classes during January Term, Spring at Tisch, and Summer. Earn credits towards your major or minor, build your résumé with an internship, or take classes to change careers. Come be inspired by New York City and our international sites.
The Office of Special Programs at Tisch School of the Arts provides access to the arts. Whether you’re an NYU or visiting college student, high school student or working professional, we provide you with the introductory exposure to the performing or cinematic arts and the advanced-level training to grow your craft.
On behalf of Dean Allyson Green, students, faculty, and staff are invited to join a workshop with Heidi Latsky Dance to learn about the company's ON DISPLAY. Participants will be invited to perform the installation in the lobby of 721 Broadway on December 1st and/or 2nd (details provided upon RSVP). RSVP is required. The workshop is limited to 35 participants on a first come, first served basis. No formal dance experience is required and widespread diversity is welcomed.
ON DISPLAY is a deconstructed art exhibit/fashion installation, a commentary on the body as spectacle and society's obsession with body image. Members of the disability, performance, and fashion worlds are often stared at and objectified in their daily lives so art and fashion function here as the installation’s framework. ON DISPLAY is a structured improvisation movement piece designed to be performed by diverse people. Presented in an open and free space, the installation allows performers and the public alike to fully witness each other. Here the viewer is as much on display as the viewed. This is a platform to experience and broadcast difference; to elevate and celebrate it within a clear context.
