Mission & Goals

What does "research" mean at a school like Tisch? What do students and faculty need to produce their most rigorous work? How do we encourage radical experimentation, provocative collaboration, and thoughtful reflection?

Students working

Launched by Dean Allyson Green in September 2014, the Tisch Initiative for Creative Research is a pilot effort to identify and establish a set of best practices for supporting faculty, student and staff research at Tisch.

The Tisch Initiative for Creative Research (TCR) is a catalytic platform designed to facilitate the artistic and intellectual growth of the students, faculty, and staff of Tisch School of the Arts. Through support of existing programs, experimentation with new ideas, and exploration of intersections among the arts and humanities, sciences, civil engagement, and public discourse, TCR augments Tisch academic offerings and fosters an environment where students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to be curious, collaborative, investigative, and entrepreneurial.
