What are you currently doing?
I am a Script Editor for Deluxe Entertainment, as well as a freelance writer for various award shows. Recently, I worked on a writer's brainstorm for the 2016 People's Choice Awards, and as a writer on season eight of America's Best Dance Crew. Before that I was the department assistant in the Event Production, Talent & Studio Relations Department for Spike TV, TV Land, and Comedy Central. I worked on their award shows such as One Night Only, Guys Choice, and Lip Sync Battle. I freelance blogged for the children's site, BatteryPOP.com, and wrote/directed my own story for the app, Episodes.
What aspects of your education, including internships and/or student projects, do you think best prepared you for your career?
Networking and brainstorming with my peers. Also, knowing how to receive feedback. Understanding why someone is telling you something and using that to grow is essential.
What would you tell your freshman self if you could do it all over again?
Actively pursue whatever goals you set for yourself. No one is going to do that for you. If there is a class you want to take or a skill you want to learn, make sure you do. Sit in on a class if you have to. You don't want to be in your last semester of senior year wishing you had said or done something years ago.
