Tisch Drama Stageworks
"Polaroid Stories"

Partly inspired by Ovid’s Metamorphoses, this play uses contemporary language and rhythms, elevating the lives of street youth to a mythical level in telling their lives, lies, dreams and adventures. The characters in the play, based on real people interviewed by the writer, are presented as characters from Greek mythology. They speak frankly and lyrically about their innermost desires—the primary one of which is to be seen. Fast-moving and theatrical, Polaroid Stories illuminates the lives of those we often avoid encountering as we traverse our cities.
