Noel Rodríguez, Jr. has been at NYU since 1997 and has been with the department since 2003. Prior to coming to the department, he worked as a financial analyst for the TSOA Vice Dean's Office and for the NYU Division of Operations as a senior budget assistant. In his role of Administrative Director Noel manages the admissions process, meets with prospective students and provides academic and registration services for graduate students. He is the recipient of the NYU Violet Award (2004) and has been an NYU Distinguished Administrator finalist (2006, 2010 & 2014).
His graduate research focused on Latin Freestyle music, the portrayal of Latino stereotypes on stage and film and the effects of gentrification on New York City Latino Communities.
In his spare time he restores antique furniture and builds custom light fixtures. He is also an Assistant Coach for the North Shore Soccer Club and recruits for local travel teams.
In addition to being the senior administrator in the department overseeing all operations, Noel is in charge of the graduate programs (M.A. and Ph.D.), including admissions, graduate funding and employment, degree requirements, and graduation.
