An independent videomaker, Katherine Hurbis-Cherrier has taught at the University of Michigan and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Her work has won awards and been exhibited at numerous festivals including the Black Maria Film and Video Festival, the Robert Flaherty Seminar, and the American Film Institute's National Video Festival. Her work has also been featured at museums and galleries, including Camerawork Gallery (San Francisco) and the Museum of Modern Art. She has been a recipient of the NEA Regional Fellowship and other production grants.
