Areas: American musical theatre and popular culture, performance studies. Former appointments at the New School for Social Research, Hunter College, Marymount Manhattan College, and the University of Delaware. Freelance consulting on Archives and Collections, including at the Cole Porter Trust and The Frank Loesser Music and Literary Trust. Publications include his Only a Paper Moon: The Theatre of Billy Rose (1987), and articles on Disney, Environmental Theatre, and World’s Fairs in The Drama Review. He is currently producing a series of compact discs devoted to Broadway composers performing their own material. Releases thus far include Cole Porter (1994), Frank Loesser (1995), and Yip Harburge (1996).
